Celeste Glazed Teacup with Saucer of Jun Kiln - Song Dynasty (960 - 1279 A.D.), height 9.1cm, cup diameter 8.8 cm, saucer diameter 15.1 cm.

Using Cooper as Coloring Material Base
Jun Kiln was discovered at JunTai of HeNan, China. The manufacturing of Jun Kiln style tea ware was started from Tang Dynasty, and had been greatly developed in Song Dynasty (960 - 1279 A.D.). The unique characteristic of Jun Kiln tea ware was that it used cooper as base coloring material and has been famous for its various metalic shining colors such as sky blue, moon white, and rosy red.

Shaped for Tea Taster's Easy Use
This tea cup ( Cha Zhan ) had two parts: the top tea cup and the bottom tea saucer. The tea cup, or Cha Zhan, had a bowl-shaped cup with a small round foot, and smooth rounding bowl edge on top towards the inner center of bowl; the tea saucer at the botton had an erected column-shaped base for tea cup's foot to fit in; the base of the saucer had its unique cooper bottom with a high heel, differentiating Jun Kiln tea cup ( Cha Zhan ) from its peers.

The style of Jun Kiln tea ware has been identified as its metalic cooper coloring, with a thick balanced surface emphysizing utility and easy use.
